Watch the video" We are seeking a highly motivated Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer (m/f/d) to join our Research & Development team based in Waldbronn, close to Karlsruhe . As an R&D Engineer (m/f/d), you will be part of a diverse R&D team responsible for developing future laboratory instrumentation within the Agilent Diagnostics and Genomics Group (DGG). This Group develops solutions that include reagents, instruments, software, and consumables, which enables customers in the clinical and life sciences research areas to interrogate samples at the cellular and molecular level. Our team is within the Biomolecular Analysis Division which develops best-in-class Automated Electrophoresis and Microfluidic laboratory instrumentation . These devices are used for the automated separation of bio molecules such as proteins and nucleic acids (RNA and DNA) and is used to determine the identity of a molecule by either size or charge. Tasks You would be involved in and have technical responsibility for defining and developing novel products, components, processes, and systems using broad engineering concepts and research techniques. This role would also include testing design ideas in a laboratory environment along with solving sophisticated and high-impact design and development problems. While also assisting in product definition/concept generation to meet design and business growth objectives. During this development you will also be able to work in close collaboration with colleagues – Electrical Engineers, Firmware Engineers, Software Engineers, Assay Scientists, and extended functions. Perform mechanical design for automated electrophoresis instrumentation during development through product release including creating drawings, BOM’s and working with suppliers on the design and purchase of parts Follow the latest technology trends and propose new insights for further research and development Actively participate in multi-functional project team meetings during product development (comprised of mechanical, electronics, firmware, software, applications, marketing, manufacturing, etc.) Presenting concepts and designs to project teams as well as management during design reviews Solve and analyze technical issues in depth to understand core problems and provide sound solutions Work with external engineering partners in mechanical design and development Support manufacturing if needed for improvement projects after products are released Profile Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field Proficient and long lasting years of extensive work experience in Mechanical Engineering Proven experience in designing, building, and testing new products in an R&D environment using relevant industry and engineering standards Demonstrated experience in common manufacturing processes as well as manufacturing methods and production-oriented design End-to-end experience from concept creation to deployment of a product Proficiency with 3D parametric CAD modeling software, preferably Siemens NX CAD Self-starter in conceptualizing and designing novel products, component design, or concepts Fluent German and good English communication skills What will make you stand Out: Passion for working in a diverse, fast-paced, high-tech environment "Can-do" teammate Good organizational skills, particularly regarding record-keeping and computer file organization, and model/drawing revision control Excellent interpersonal skills and can communicate complicated concepts clearly in a distributed project team environment Good collaboration skills and the willingness to acquire skills to take on a technical leader role in the future We offer Competitive compensation and benefits package (yearly company bonus, pension scheme, home office furniture, medical & life insurance…) Exciting and inspiring projects in a dynamic collaborative team A working environment with a multitude of possibilities for professional training and career development in an international company Work-Life-Balance is encouraged Training on the job in a motivated, dynamic R&D team Permanent contract in a fast-growing global company
